Costa Rica Picture of the Day – Each day the Costa Rican Times will be including a picture from around Costa Rica to see the natural beauty and amazing things that we get to see each day in the land of the Pura Vida.
“Every day here, depending on the weather, the clouds and the sea, the sunset looks different. On the day I shot this photo, there was a lot of heavy dark cloud dispersed across the sky, and the orange glow was just peeking through.
I liked the texture of the clouds, and so took three separate shots (one at the correct exposure, one at an exposure one stop under and a third at an exposure one stop over). Afterwards, I merged the three images together in Photomatix to create an HDR shot.
Afterwards, I used some of the tools in Photomatix and Adobe Photoshop Elements to just make the orange sections a little brighter and to enhance the highlighted areas a bit. I think the two surfers in the foreground bring a little more interest to the image, and I cropped the top half slightly so that the darker portion of the sky wasn’t overwhelming.”
