Costa Rica Picture of the Day – Each day the Costa Rican Times will be including a picture from around Costa Rica to see the natural beauty and amazing things that we get to see each day in the land of the Pura Vida.
When you step out of your hotel or home in Costa Rica there is no telling what wildlife you will run into.
One of the creatures that you will definitely have time to run and get your camera to take pic of is the three-toed sloth. It will not be moving very fast through the rain forest trees of Costa Rica.
The Costa Rican three-toed sloth is normally active during the day, unlike the nocturnal two-toed sloth, and is seen much more often in Costa Rica.
An interesting fact that not many people know is that on average about once a week, the sloth descends from the trees, digs a small hole with its tail, uses the potty both number 1 & 2. The sloth covers it with leaves using its hind legs and returns to its habitat in the trees.
