Costa Rica Picture of the Day – Each day the Costa Rican Times will be including a picture from around Costa Rica to see the natural beauty and amazing things that we get to see each day in the land of the Pura Vida.
“One of the most common arachnid pets across the world is the red-kneed tarantula.
While in Monteverde, I was fortunate enough to spot one in the wild, nestled away in a ficus tree, but this particular female in the shot is a resident at the Monteverde Butterfly Gardens.
Because of the situation, I couldn’t really get in front of the spider, but I did manage to get the focus and some of the light on at least one of her eyes.
I also find, when photographing spiders, that the most interesting and unique shots are the ones which show texture, so I was pleased with the detailing of the fine hairs on her legs.”
