People come from all over the world to dive in Costa Rica, and in particular, Playas Del Coco. While the visibility is typically a lot lower than places in the Caribbean and Hawaii, part of the draw is the ability to see a large variety of aquatic life. After working as a dive instructor in both the Florida Keys and Bermuda, I can definitely say the diving in Costa Rica is unique.
During my dive earlier this week, I had just dropped down to approximately 60 feet when I came across this massive Longtail Stingray. The photo actually doesn’t even do it justice. This ray was at least a few feet wide and didn’t seem to mind me snapping a few photos while I had the chance.
