Costa Rica Picture of the Day – Each day the Costa Rican Times will be including a picture from around Costa Rica to see the natural beauty and amazing things that we get to see each day in the land of the Pura Vida.
If you take the trail through the mountains outside of Jaco you will run into what seems like old stone carvings.
There is a popular trail in between Jaco and Hermosa that many people use for an early morning run or just a sight seeing hike in the afternoon.
About half way up there is a gorgeous “mirador” where you can overlook the entire town of Jaco.
If you continue on you will see the petroglyphs.
Petroglyphs (also called rock engravings) are images created by removing part of a rock surface which remains in situ, by incising, pecking, carving, and abrading.
