Parakeets, or palm parakeet are common in the Caribbean but with forestation is more common to find them in the Pacific.
They often are caught to keep as pets, but with the new regulation by MINAE it is forbidden to have any kind of wild animals as a pet. If there are any pets wild animals found in a household they are confiscated and released in a national park. It is considered a species under threat of extinction and is protected and regulated by the law of conservation of wildlife.
Sometimes they are considered a plagued for farmers in the corn sembrios.
Parakeets locate their nest in hollow trees or old woodpecker holes, is a nomadic species, they also eat flowers and fruits.
