Costa Rica News – Today May 14th there will be an organized global bird count put together by the Laboratory of Ornithology from Cornell University.
Ticos are welcome to participate in the effort on the eBird platform.
The event aims to build awareness of the diversity of avifauna in each local community as well as around the world. It also subsequently promotes ideas like conservation measures.
The event is open to the public. Don’t worry about not being an expert or not having much time.
You can participate by making a quick report right from your home garden.
Go to ebird.org from a mobile device and report in Spanish, French, Chinese, German or English.
It will ask for basic data such as either the scientific or common name (guides are available to help you determine it), place of observation, and what behaviors were observed, such as eating.
If possible to take pictures upload them to social media sites with hashtag GBD2016.
