Costa Rica News – Wise consumers and frugal shoppers know how expensive Costa Rica is. It’s one of the most expensive of all Latin American countries. They want help to stretch their dollars and colones. And now they have it, by way of the new online network of money-savers called Costa Rica Gratis (Free Costa Rica).
Costa Rica Gratis’ website lists over 100 free cultural events at any time. Last week, the group of penny conscious consumers enjoyed a free gourmet meal at an event called Bon ArtPetit, at the Central Bank.
There, they celebrated the 200th anniversary of San Jose with gourmet dishes garnished with a festive flare.
Another recent event was the Christmas Feast at the National Museum. This was held at the Democracy Plaza in San Jose and it featured Santa’s workshop.
This holiday season, resist the urge to buy everything you see “on sale” and instead attend some free cheerful events. You can easily find them on an app designed for Android or HTML5 mobile devices. There is not one for iPhone, probably because of how expensive iPhones are.
The Navidad en Costa Rica app, in addition to providing info on what’s happening around the country, lists ways that you can help the less fortunate.
For example, this weekend there was an event in Plaza de las Flores, Heredia where people brought gifts for Casa de los Ninos.
