Costa Rica Travel – If you have not booked your accommodations for the Christmas holidays in Costa Rica, you might be running out of options.
Hotel occupancy and prices is always an interesting topic to discuss at the end of the year, mainly because of the immense variations. The year-end occupancy for Costa Rica in general is 84%, according to the Costa Rican Chamber of Hotels.
Their study found that Puntarenas is the highest tourist region and has a 100% occupancy rate for Christmas and New Years.
The Northern Plains region follows, at 90%. Other rates include 87% in Guanacaste, 86% in the South Pacific, 83% in the Middle Pacific, and 82% in the Caribbean.
The nationwide average rate for a hotel room this holiday season is $211.
Rooms can be found for an average of $110 in the Central Valley, as the tourists tend to prefer going to the beaches and mountains.
To look at some extremes, the Arenas del Mar hotel is renting rooms for $1,700 plus tax and the Best Western Jacó Beach has rooms for $118 per person all inclusive.
