Costa Rica Surfing – Home wave advantage was working well for Costa Rica until this weekend.
Heading into Friday Costa Rica looked good in being able to repeat as the ISA World Surfing Games champions, but now it seems a lot less likely with Anthony Filligan, Carlos Munoz and Thomas King all eliminated from competition.
In fact on the men’s side only one Costa Rican remains. Noe Mar McGonagle.
On the women’s side no one from Costa Rica made it past the 3rd round.
The good news is you can still catch USA surfer Tia Blanco in action tomorrow, she is worth the trip to Jaco.
The current team standings are as follows:
• Peru, 4410
• Portugal, 4313
• Costa Rica, 3940
• Japan, 3353
• France, 3308
• New Zealand, 3179
• USA, 2860
• Venezuela, 2760
• Argentina, 2752
• Ecuador, 2218
