Anyone over age 20, from any part of Costa Rica, can go for their first covid-19 shot in Puerto Caldera Friday, from 8 am until supplies run out. This mass vaccination effort is coordinated with the Monseñor Sanabria Hospital.
Those interested should go to the “cruises room” at the terminal. Appointments are not needed. While the idea is to speed up the immunity process in Esparza, Caldera and downtown Puntarenas, people from any part of the country are welcome. Note that if your first vaccine is given there the second will also have to be done in Puntarenas, either there or at the hospital.
The CCSS urges everyone to get vaccinated because the newest covid variant is more transmissible.
In Hospital San Carlos, 85% of those hospitalized because of covid are those who have not been vaccinated. In the United States, which is ahead of Costa Rica in terms of vaccinations, reports that 95% of those hospitalized with serious cases of covid are those who have not been vaccinated.
