Costa Rica News – The College of Journalists (Colper) is condemned for violating freedom of expression.
It was condemned by the Constitutional Chamber for censorship of an opinion piece by the former president of the organization.
The text was entitled “Because I believe in good journalism.” It was published on March 9 of last year. It questioned the relationship between members of the National Liberation Party and the digital media elmundo.cr.
The publication provoked a reprimand of the author in the Court of Honor and Ethics.
This disciplinary proceeding violated Mr. Mora’s right to freedom of expression. Colper must pay the costs of the legal proceedings.
His article was about freedom of thought and expression so any kind of reprimand would be inappropriate.
Mora does not want this issue to do damage to the image of Colper.
