In this season of giving, the Calderón Guardia Blood Bank needs donations. The hospital will enable donations on Sundays, in the hopes of more people being able to come in. The schedule will be from 7 a.m. to noon on the first three Sundays in December.
The head of the blood bank explained that incidents increase at this time of the year. Blood and blood components are vital to save lives affected by emergencies, traffic accidents, surgeries, covid-19, diseases, and maybe even bullfighting in Zapote.
If you’d like to donate, you can schedule an appointment by WhatsApp at 7097-1652 or by phone at 2212-1242. The blood bank is open Monday to Thursday 6:30 to 5:30 and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., in addition to the new Sunday hours.
Donors must be between 18 and 65 years old, weigh at least 52 kilograms, and be in good health. Any tattoos must have been done at least a year before the donation. If the donor was vaccinated against covid-19 with the Pfizer vaccine, 7 days must have passed before the donation. In the case of Astrazeneca and influenza vaccines, 15 days must have passed between the vaccine and donation.
