Costa Rica News – You know that thought that crosses your mind before getting on a thrilling ride? “What if something goes wrong?”
Well, at Parque de Diversiones, Costa Rica’s amusement park, some people’s nightmare came true.
At least six people were at the top of the tower ride (la torre) on Monday afternoon when a mechanical problem left them stuck there for a matter of minutes. The tower is 40 meters high (over 130 feet) and known for its 60 km per hour (about 40 MPH) fall.
The park has its own emergency services crew for handling such situations, so there was no need to call in the Fire Department or the Red Cross.
There were no injuries and the ride was operating again shortly.
The failure could have been caused by a change in electrical voltage.
Luckily, it was nothing to be alarmed about, though I wouldn’t want to be at the top of the tower knowing there was a problem and wondering if it would fall uncontrolled!
Plus if something electrical did go wrong blame would be passed from ICE to the Parque de Diversiones and back until no one took responsibility and even if someone did it would be in the Costa Rican court system for years.
Luckily no one was hurt this time……..
