Costa Rica Sports News – It is that time of year again. College football has wrapped up at the beginning of the month and we are only about a week away from this years Super Bowl featuring the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks. For most of us this is a sad time of year knowing that we are going to have to wait until August to get our fix of football in our systems again.
However in Costa Rica the end of football season in the USA marks the beginning of football season in the land of “Pura Vida”. Many of the players work at sportsbooks so this will mark the down season for those business entities and it gives the employees a few more weekends free.
This year the season starts this weekend with a couple of great games.
The action starts on Saturday at the Pipilo Umana Stadium in Moravia. Game one will feature the Dragons and Bears at 2:30 pm and it will be followed up by a rematch of last year’s Costa Rica Super Bowl as the Toros and Bulldogs face off in what looks to be a grudge match with tempers flaring.
The tickets to the game are 2000 colones or about $4 and can be purchased at the gate.
This looks like a great way to kick off the season in what looks to be a very competitive year on the Costa Rican gridiron. If you can try to make it out there this weekend to enjoy some hard hitting on the field.
