Costa Rica News – There are many districts in Costa Rica, 127, to be specific, that are enjoying the new service from Kolbi, internet that is 10 times faster on smartphones. La Cruz, Limon, Miramar, and San Francisco are some of the areas that are experiencing this new 4G coverage. A third of the country has access on this network that opened yesterday.
This mobile network allows live broadcast, gameplay, and downloads at speeds of up to 10 Mbps, though that maximum speed is not guaranteed. “Although we do the best we can, you may not reach 10 Mbps for reasons of base stations configuration, the plan, or cell location,” said Danny Salas, director of Marketing for Kölbi.
Postpaid customers can get 6 megabits for ¢10,000 or 10 megabits for ¢ 27,000 per month. Those who request 10 megabits in the next 15 days can get a one month free trial.
On March 15th, there will be a special 50% off introductory price. 4G isn’t yet available for iPhone 5, 5S, or 5C, because there are software updates from the manufacturer pending.
For now, the plan is just for mobile devices. In December, ICE plans to offer 4G LTE through a datacard, for computers and tablets with USB ports. Claro and Movistar are following close behind and will soon compete with ICE.
