Costa Rica Travel – The cost for Costa Ricans to travel abroad has been reduced in the last 20 months, according to the consumer price index of the air ticket, measured monthly by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses.
The arrival of low-cost airlines, like Volaris & Southwest, helped push prices down. Another favorable aspect is that the oil prices dropped lower.
From June 2015 to February 2017 the cost of tickets fell 12%.
Variations in ticket prices occur depending on when they are purchased, how many are purchased and the day of the week and class to be traveled on.
Inflation remains low but on an upward trend.
Another factor that helped the nationals was the stable exchange rate last year and with a slight adjustment this year.
This makes a difference when paying colones for a ticket in dollars.
