Costa Rica News – A competition will allow ticos to learn more about history and culture in five protected areas of the country as well as offer a prize of $1,000 to the team that accumulates the most points.
Those interested in participating can register their team of 3-5 people at desafio.costaricaporsiempre.org. The teams then have until September 5th to go to Cabo Blanco, Marino Ballena, Cahuita, Vida Silvestre Bahía Junquillal and Gandoca-Manzanillo.
At each location they must take specific photos and videos as outlined in the competition rules. Some examples of tasks they must complete include finding a specific local who sells coconut water and takes a stand against the use of plastics, singing a song about the place they are, and asking a local a question about history.
The proof of completed tasks must be uploaded on Facebook. The winners will receive a $1,000 prize as well as $600 to the conservation effort of their choice. The second and third place teams will also receive a cash prize, of $500 and $300.
