Costa Rica News – A young couple from Turrialba, Costa Rica, traveled to Israel with the intention of selling a kidney.
They lived through a terrifying situation but have been returned to their country, with the help of the Costa Rican consul in Israel.
The Israeli police stopped them and threatened arresting them and keeping them in jail 20 years without the chance of expatriation. To avoid this they had to tell the whole truth in an affidavit.
They confirmed that they were offered ¢10 million and all the fees like passports and flights were paid for. They arrived in March 2013 with only $10 and without knowing who would contact them at the airport.
The couple says they were treated like criminals, touched everywhere, and not given food or adequate clothing for the cold weather.
The negotiations the couple was involved in were related to Doctor Francisco Mora Palma, who was detained in October of 2013. There were a total of 14 victims in this crime of trafficking people for the purpose of illicit extraction of organs.
