Costa Rica News – MEIC processed 64 complaints related to alleged non-compliance of contracts by Casas Vita Real Estate.
A business lawyer states that the company’s policy is to try to conciliate out of court.
The delays in delivery of the residences are said to be due to excessive formalities required by the country.
The complaints are mainly related to deadlines going unmet although the company has also been denounced for using low quality materials, such as doors that are not meant to be outside, leading to rot.
32 of the complaints have been withdrawn from the ministry, meaning an alleged conciliation.
The details are not known since they are decided upon between consumers and the company.
Those who paid for houses to be built by the company feel like captive consumers because they wait indefinitely without a home or their money back. In many cases, clients conciliate with an extended deadline only to return to MEIC to re-denounce the company.
