Costa Rica News – Bribery is no new thing, but police in Costa Rica refusing it? Now, I’d say that’s news. A 32 year old man, Monge, tried to bribe a cop with $100, to get out of going to jail on a drug carrying charge.
The officer refused and arrested Monge, who was carrying 8 doses of marijuana and a few of Ecstasy. This happened in the Merced area of San Jose, on Sunday. This man has been caught before.
When he was stopped, he appeared nervous. He took money from his pocket and tried to give it in exchange of not being searched.
After the officer refused the bribe, drugs were found hidden in the man’s clothing.
Monge was taken into the police station before being transferred to the Public Prosecutor.
He is being accused of both drug trafficking and bribing an officer, and he could face 15 years in jail.
