Costa Rica News – For all you Expat Democrats and people that are living in Costa Rica that voted for Obama in the last election it looks like your dream is coming true…..Barack will be coming to Costa Rica in May.
President of the United States, Barack Obama, will come to Costa Rica during the first week of May, on an official visit to the President of the Republic, Laura Chinchilla.
The information was confirmed by government sources, although there is secrecy about the details of the visit.
The U.S. president will meet with his American counterparts here in the framework of a meeting of the Central American Integration System (SICA).
Obama’s visit has been planned for months would be the first by a U.S. president since Bill Clinton came to Costa Rica in May 1997, to meet with then President José María Figueres.
The first president to visit Costa Rica was John F. Kennedy, in March 1963.
The last meeting between Chinchilla and Obama was at the Summit of the Americas in Cartagena, Colombia, in April.
Will Obama’s Secret Service partake in festivities with the local prostitutes like in Colombia?
Is the meeting to implement more financial transparency between the US and Costa Rica? To increase trade? Is this part of his plan to get his immigration bill passed?
We can only hope that Chinchilla does not try to pass more laws in Costa Rica to make expat lives more frustrating…..but my guess would be this meeting is not going to make doing business in Costa Rica easier.
He also did two interviews today with Spanish Speaking media here in USA
