Costa Rica News – I settled into my chair ready to go through the joyous task of paying my utility bills for the month; cable, Internet, water and electricity. It gives me piece of mind knowing that when there is a power outage or the Internet goes down which it commonly does in Costa Rica, that it is not for non-payment it is just another Costa Rican inconvenience.
I went to the Banco Nacional online banking page and ran into another inconvenience. Their online system was down as instead of being able to log in like normal I got a fun ““page cannot be found” error message.
With no luck paying my bills on Sunday I again tried to log into the system on Monday only to find the same error.
Yay! Time to call customer service at the bank.
After about 15 minutes on hold I was able to finally speak to someone that was a super help. (sarcasm)
They told me that they are aware of the problem and that they are working on it. If I needed to do any transactions I should head to one of their locations. Did I know where the closest one was?
Although a little annoyed I told her yes and then asked if she knew when the system would be back?
She had no idea.
I went on to ask did she know what happened, did someone hack the system or was there another error?
She had no idea.
I hung up the phone having the same knowledge as I did before I made the call……Banco Nacional’s online banking system was down, I had no idea when it would be back up and did not know the cause.
I will just hope they get it up in the next couple of days and do what most people do in Costa Rica, wait until the last minute to pay my bills.
Update *** It is Back Up and Running
