Costa Rica News – Last week we reported on a toucan that was attacked but a bunch of teenage Costa Ricans. I will not call them humans as humans do not act like this, these little thugs are animals with no sense of what is wrong or right.
The result of this barbaric attack was the loss of an innocent toucans beak.
The experts say he is stable but will take a few months to recover.
He’ll also have to get used to his new home, where he will stay for the remainder of his life. He is unable to be released into the wild without his beak because he wouldn’t be able to secure food.
Elementos 3D is an organization trying to help Grecia by designing and printing a 3D beak. The Way and the Center of Investigation for Innovation also plan to make prototypes of prosthetic beaks.
3,100 animals each year are sent to Zoo Ave after they are abused, orphaned or trafficked.
Minister of Health María Luisa Ávila has raised ¢1.5 million to equip the hospital to be built in Zoo Ave to meet the large number of wild animals admitted.
If you’d like to donate to help Grecia and other animals you can do so in their account in colones 205-0015607-8 at Bank of Costa Rica (customer account: 15201205001560784) on behalf of Restoration Foundation for Nature (Fundación Restauración de la Naturaleza).
The next step should find the kids behind the attack and put them in captivity the rest of their lives. Children that abuse animals end of their anyway. so we would just make it so their ability to commit criminal acts was taken away.
ONE WORD COSTA RICA………ACCOUNTABILITY!!!!!
But when the Costa Rican authority figures are corrupt and society sees that they have no accountability for their actions, then you get to become a society where acts like this against this beautiful bird are accepted and left unpunished……
