Costa Rica News – How many of us have braved the sideways rain in Costa Rica trying to flag down a taxi? Taxi troubles in Costa Rica are coming to an end, with the announcement of a new app that will transform the disastrous system. This mobile app in the works is called Taxi Tico. It’s for iPhones and Android-powered devices.
The goal is to connect taxi drivers with passengers directly. In addition, it will be a way to pay. Talk about efficiency. No more having to deal with the annoying problem of “no change, sorry.”
It should be easy to call and get a taxi, but we all know it’s not. If it’s raining, rush hour, a holiday, or a payday you can just forget it. There are not enough telephone operators at the dispatch services. If you do reach one, they forget to send your taxi and you have to keep calling and waste even more time listening to “hold” music.
This app will particularly help those in rural areas with difficult to explain addresses. No longer will a ten minute discussion about directions be needed, as GPS technology shows them where you are calling from.
For the moment, only official taxis can participate in Taxi Tico.
