“They killed my sister,” is what Alison García Varela’s brother wrote on Facebook. The family is distraught over the death of their loved one, who leaves behind her four-year-old daughter.
The 19-year-old girl was missing for eight days. The family looked for her but did not file a complaint, as it was usual for her to go missing for days at a time because she struggled with drug addiction.
On Saturday, in Desamparados, her body was found, in an advanced state of decomposition, wrapped in bags and with a hose around her neck. The family identified her by her clothes and a tattoo.
The Judicial Investigation Agency is doing an autopsy to confirm it’s her and define how she died and how long ago. It is not yet known how long it will take to have the results of their forensic investigation.
