Costa Rica News – Akamai trains people in technology and then hires them. The firm Akamai has used this method in the US and in Poland and Costa Rica now becomes the third country where the program is opened.
Akamai opened a support and services center in Costa Rica in 2013 and now it’s starting its first class of a six month training program that instructs people wanting to change careers to technology.
It trains them in Internet, networking, and other principles. It saw applicants who met the requirements of high school and 85% English. 450 applied, 250 passed the psychometric tests, 55 passed the interview, and a group of 18 were selected to start the course this month.
When the next group opens, the company will communicate the application process on social networks and the company’s website. The hope is that 100% of trainees will pass and go on to work at the company.
