Cotsa Rica News – A project was approved to facilitate credits from Conape to students with limited resources.
The plan sets up a fund to benefit some, but not all, low-income university students.
Last month, Conape processed 504 applications and made ¢2,400 million in loans but all to those who have guarantors or properties as guarantees. The new project, called 6041 project, will allow others to access the loans.
The fund will start with ¢2,000 million which the institution has as a surplus. To sustain the project donations will be accepted from public and private institutions. Interest generated can also be put to this use.
The fund is limited and would not extend to the entire low-income population. It would be exclusively for exceptional cases and for zones of very low relative development with limited access to education.
