Costa Rica Travel News – Can you imagine living inside of a national park for a few days? How about just 1.7 miles away from an active volcano? The Arenal Observatory Lodge provides that and much more. The most stunning volcano views await you. I stayed in the Smithsonian room, with features picture windows that look out to a private balcony and impressive view of the Arenal Volcano.
This lodge is only twenty minutes from the town of La Fortuna. They can arrange the transportation for you. All you need to worry about is deciding whether to relax on the deck, hike the trails with a complimentary guided tour, go horseback riding, hit the jacuzzi or check out the museum with a real seismograph.
The staff is so helpful and friendly. They get to know the guests and are more than happy to give advice and answer questions. They will explain the various trails to you and give you directions to a waterfall or Cerro Chato Volcano. On the extensive, 7 miles of trails, you will see flowering plants, butterflies, hummingbirds, anteaters and any of the 400 types of birds that call this property home.
The restaurant has a viewpoint that overlooks both the lake and the volcano. What a sight! It opens up to the deck and features panoramic views through floor to ceiling windows. You get a huge breakfast included with your stay, and they also offer lunch and dinner. Snacks are available for purchase at the reception desk.
There are plenty of places to hang out on the property, including a living room area with a fireplace and large tv, the deck and an infinity pool. After a day of exploring the hours of trails you might treat yourself to one of the spa services available.
