Costa Rica News – The Tree Houses Hotel is 100% worth going to, even if you were planning on going to another region. Take at least a night or two to get to Santa Clara for this boutique bed and breakfast.
As soon as you pull up to the main entrance, the owners will warmly welcome you. They are a couple who moved here in ‘09 to manage the place. They’ll point out the wildlife all around you, before you even get to your room.
You’re “room,” by the way, is not like any you have stayed in before- it’s a tree house 10 meters in the air. To get up to your room there are 20 steps. Once you make it up there, enjoy the wrap around porch and the birds’ eye view. There are six tree houses on the property. The smallest can easily fit a family of four, since it has a loft.
The area around this hotel has plenty to do. It’s near the Arenal Volcano, which is a world of activity. There are hiking trails, hot springs, ziplines, and plenty of roadside stands selling fresh tropical fruit and coconut water.
The Tree Houses Hotel is lively, even at night. The night watchman will gladly take you around and show you the nocturnal creatures. Then, in the morning, you’ll awake to the sounds of howler monkeys, which sound like roaring lions.
You’ll be served breakfast in an outdoor dining room, before setting out for another day of exploration, during which you might encounter Blue Morpho butterflies, sloths, gargantuan spiders, and toucans.
