Costa Rica News – Changes near the airport will reduce travel times by up to 30 minutes, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT).
They calculated this through modeling and traffic projections.
Modifications to intersections of the air terminal began in February. Various road changes were made at the intersections.
The biggest change, intended to resolve road congestion, is the removal of traffic lights. Three lights were removed for those going from the West to San Jose.
Additionally, a road link will allow those going to Rio Segundo to deviate 600 meters before traffic lights, on a new turn.
Those traveling from the West will also have three lanes now for those turning to the right of left. The lanes coming from the West are now wider.
But until the changes are made and while they are making the changes expect some delays in traffic.
