Costa Rica News – For any of you out there that have the pure joy of filling your car or SUV up at a Costa Rica gas station, expect to pull your pants down, bend over and get raped. The gas prices in Costa Rica are astronomical.
Gas prices currently are on average $1.40 PER LITER in Costa Rica.
There are 3.8 liters in a gallon making the cost per gallon of gas in Costa Rica on average about $5.32 per gallon. For a normal mid size vehicle the cost to fill it up is about $70.
The average cost per gallon of gas in the USA over the past month……drum role please…..$3.60.
If this was not enough according to the Autoridad Raeguladora de los Servicios Públicos (Aresep), 5% of the country’s gasoline station do not pump the same amount of fuel for which the customers are being charged. The information is based on an inspection of 348 gasoline stations across the country during the first quarter of 2013.
12 gas stations were over charging customers and 5 were found with quality problems, including sediment and low octane.
Aresep spokesperson, Carolina Mora, said that the gas stations could face fines and lose their concession rights.
But for now avoid the service stations below if you can…..might as well try to save a bit of money with the price of gas being higher in Costa Rica than Beverly Hills.
