A group of 60 tourists, senior citizens, were seen getting off a tourist bus by la basilica Los Angeles this afternoon. While it may be possible that the tourists didn’t know it was closed, the company should have known better than to offer tours at this time when we are urged to stay home.
All the churches have been closed, as have bars, casinos, schools and universities. The authorities are asking us to stay home so as to stop the spread of the new coronavirus, covid-19.
Officers of the Public Force approached them immediately and told them of the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and asked them to leave and return to their homes or hotels. The driver and tourists were encouraged to participate in the joint work for public health by staying inside and away from crowds.
The mayor of Cartago was surprised that the tourism company is still offering tours. He made a call for authorities to be on alert for any other tourist buses, by walkthroughs and surveillance videos, and send them back.
