Costa Rica News – For many US expats and vacation goers alike there is always the desire to have a little taste of home when it comes to celebrating the 4th of July in Costa Rica or another foreign country. In Costa Rica the many US expats try to supply that feeling of being at home.
There are many community events that are organized in the various areas of Costa Rica. Fireworks and hot dogs will be present in multiple communities along the Costa Rican coastlines and rain forests. People in and around the San Jose area there is basically one place to go to celebrate with the US crowd The American Colony Committee’s 53rd Independence Day Celebration. This picnic hosted at the Cervecería will feature incredible food, live music and you will be surrounded by red, white and blue…….
If you are in need for a 4th of July celebration that will remind you of home this is the place to be. Included are hot dogs, 4th of July activities, and of course lots of beer.
This year’s 4th of July event in Costa Rica will feature U.S. singer/songwriter Mary McBride, performing with her band as part of a worldwide cultural tour.
At 11 a.m., there will be a flag-raising ceremony that will commence with the participation of the American Embassy in Costa Rica and the U.S. Marines. The University of Costa Rica symphonic band will perform the national anthems of both the United States and Costa Rica during this ceremony.
The 53rd annual Independence Day Celebration is organized by the American Colony Committee for United States citizens and their immediate family. Citizens are also encouraged to bring one Tico friend.
Date and Time: July 4, 2013, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Admission: $10 (or ¢5,000).
Location: Cervecería Costa Rica is located off the General Cañas highway, near Juan Santamaría Airport, Alajuela. Free parking is available and a free shuttle service is provided from the parking area to the fair grounds. Those getting dropped off can enter the main entrance of the Cervecería.
