Costa Rica Entertainment News – Science, the piano and art are, this week, bringing together more than 15 musicians from the School of Musical Art (University of Costa Rica).
From Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th August, they’ll be celebrating the first Encuentro de Pianistas in the Sala María Clara Cullel with a range of recitals, seminars and master classes; all looking to promote working with pianos.
If you would like to come along just to listen, entry is free, but do bear in mind that space is limited.
On Monday at 10.30am, there will be an introductory presentation, followed by a master class, given by José Pablo Quesada. At 1pm, Manuel Matarrita will be giving a conference, which will be succeeded by a talk and recital by Walter Morales. Afterwards Jorge Briceño will be chatting to Mussorgsky, and the day will conclude with a recital by Alonso Saavedra at 5pm.
On Tuesday, Milena Ortega will be offering a workshop on refurbishing and maintaining pianos at 10am. The afternoon will consists of talks by Juan Carlos Muñoz (who will be giving a recital at 1pm), Pilar Aguilar (with her book, Methodology of the Left Hand), Katia Guevara (on using the piano in dance classes), and a number of students who will be performing works by Alberto Ginastera.
Wednesday will see talks beginning at 11am with the following speakers: Walter Morales, Alejandra Pacheco, Karla Salas, José Pablo Quesada, Patricia Molina and Irina Kaufman.
