Costa Rica News – Over the past weekend for all of those that have an eye behind the lens of a camera, you were treated to an incredible display of experts’ work in the field. 55 photographers from all over Latin America showed off their favorite pieces, at Costa Rica’s “Expofoto.”
This is the largest annual exhibition of photography in the country.
Artists came from Argentina, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Bolivia, and Colombia. Some came from as far away as Canada and Spain. Thousands of spectators showed up to see the presentation.
Workshops, talks, a trade show, and a film series were included in this year’s event, which was the third “Expofoto.” Each year, more and more attraction is drawn to this well put together event. In fact, from the first year to the second, attendance doubled from 5,000 to 10,000.
“We wanted to provide a space for photographers to showcase their reality and share it with the public,” said the director of the event, Paulina Segura.
She told us that the three most important factors of “Expofoto” are education, art, and resources. It was free to attend the event.
The artists brought 945 photos from 17 countries. They competed for prizes in categories, such as conceptual, natural world, portrait, and landscape.
