Costa Rica News – International arrivals to Costa Rica are up by 4.4 percent between the first half of last year and the first half of this one.
There were a total of 987,801 entries, according to the Directorate of Immigration.
The Juan Santamaria International Airport is the main point of entry to the country, but the Daniel Oduber International Airport recorded a higher growth since last year, with an increase of 8.5%
In this year alone, five new airlines have confirmed operations to Costa Rica, adding a total of nine routes to the country. Six airlines increased the frequency of routes, bringing in more visitors and revenue.
Land and sea entrances were down, but considering all ports of entry, international arrivals increased by 1.7 percent.
Mexico was the main source of tourists from Latin America and there were important markets from Europe including France, the UK and Germany.
