Escalating Flight Frequency from Miami to Costa Rica
American Airlines is set to ramp up its flight services from Miami to Costa Rica, targeting the bustling holiday season. Usually providing two daily flights to Liberia and three to San José, the leading airline plans to enhance its offering to three flights to Liberia and four to San José from December 20, 2023, to January 7, 2024.
Notable Increase in Seat Capacity
Announced in a recent press release, this frequency expansion signifies a notable growth in seat capacity. Each aircraft accommodates up to 172 passengers. As compared to the previous year, there will be a 33% surge in seat capacity between San José and Miami. This also corresponds to a 12% increase compared to the holiday period of 2022-2023.
Pricing Variance for Different Destinations
Despite slightly higher ticket prices for flights to Liberia than to San José, the convenience justifies the cost, especially if Liberia is your final destination. For instance, a roundtrip flight departing on December 22 and returning on January 3 costs $646 to Liberia and $602 to San José.
Competitive Scenario in Air Travel to Costa Rica
As of the end of 2022, Avianca led the pack with the most weekly flights to Costa Rica, at 68, closely followed by American Airlines, with 62. The latter connects Liberia and San José to several key U.S. cities including Miami, Dallas, and Charlotte.
