Autopsies are still pending to find out whether malpractice was involved in two recent deaths following aesthetic procedures in private clinics.
A 37-year-old teacher died during a liposuction procedure. After the hospital she was brought to reported this, the OIJ raided the home where the surgery took place. Evidence is being collected and details verified. There are many questions. Was the doctor qualified for this type of surgery? Did his home clinic have permits in order? Was everything in working order?
The woman’s family, students, and loved ones miss her dearly. Her sister can not come to terms with how she died and she can’t sleep so she will seek out psychological help.
A 48-year-old obstetrics nurse also lost her life. She had an abdominal hernia that bothered her while she was in deliveries so she decided to have it removed. Complications arose at night when she was back home. Her loved ones say, “in heaven they already enjoy your goodness and joy, while here we will miss you.”
The forensic lab of the OIJ has seen at least 11 deaths related to cosmetic surgeries between 2006 and 2015.
