Six airlines are to resume flights to Costa Rica soon. The dates for operations starting back up are between August and October. This is big news, especially since three of the airlines are from Europe.
Edelweiss, from Switzerland, will resume operations in August and then Air France and British Airlines will reactivate flights in October. Air Canada returns to normal flights in September from Toronto. Delta, from the U.S.A., returns in August from Miami and Dallas.
Details such as frequency and schedules are not known yet as each airline must formalize their renewal of operations before the General Directorate of Civil Aviation.
The Minister of Health, Daniel Salas Peraza, announced that both international airports will resume operations as of August 1. At that time, flights will only be allowed from countries that have “more controlled” covid-19 situations.
President Carlos Alvarado clarified that this does not mean land borders are going to open.
During July, there will be various repatriation flights. On July 11, a flight will leave Costa Rica to repatriate European citizens in Costa Rica. On July 17, a flight will go from Spain to Costa Rica to repatriate Costa Rican citizens.
