Costa Rica Surfing – Of the 30 Costa Ricans participating in the Surf Tico in Jacó, 22 are under 20 years old, pointing to the growth in young talent. This professional World Surfing League event will take place from this Thursday through Sunday. The youngest participants are 11-year-old Rachel Agüero and 14-year-old Axel Castro.
Some of the participants have foreign parents yet have the responsibility of representing Costa Rica at an international level.
Some of them have already had the opportunity to compete abroad and for others this will be their first taste of such a high level event.
The already numerous national participation was extended by five wildcard letters of invitation provided to the Surf Federation of Costa Rica and the organizer of the event, RPM TV.
This professional tournament will be seen from around the globe. Sponsors will have their eyes on new talent. Participants are just days away from possible international recognition.
