Adele’s Early Life
Born on 5th of May 1988 in Tottenham, London, Adele was raised by her mother. At the age of two, her father, Evans, left her mother to raise her. She began to sing at the age of four. She spent most of her time singing rather than reading. Adele graduated from the BRIT School for performing Arts & Technology in Croydon in May 2006. She credits the school for nurturing her talent. She took along a friend when she went for the meeting.
In 2007, Adele made her first television debut on BBC’s Later with Jools Holland where she performed ‘Daydreamer’. ‘Hometown Glory’ is her breakthrough song which was released in October the same year.
Adele had become the headliner and performed acoustic sets by 2008. She was supported by Damien Rice. Adele was the first receiver of the Brit Awards Critics’ Choice. In an annual BBC poll Music Critic Sound of 2008, she was named the number one predicted breakthrough act of 2008. Entering British charts at number one is the album ‘19’ of Adele. The album was written when she was of that age, 19. ‘19’ was named an ‘essential’ Blue-eyed Soul by The Times Encyclopedia. Two weeks after the release of her debut album ‘19’, she released her second single ‘Chasing pavements’. For 4 weeks the song remained on number 2 on the UK Chart. For her first album ‘19’, Adele was nominated for a 2008 Mercury Prize Award. She won an Urban Music Award for Best Jazz Act. In the category of Breakthrough Act and a Music of Black Origin nomination in the category of Best UK Female, she received a Q Award nomination.
In February 2009 at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards, Adele received the Best New Artist Award together with Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Award for ‘Chasing Pavements’. The song was also nominated for Record of the year and Song of the year.
In 2011, Adele released her second studio album. The album was inspired by her break-up with her former partner. The sound of this album was described as a classic and contemporary country and roots music. At the Brit awards the same year, an emotional performance of ‘Someone Like You’, pushed the song to number one in the UK. Her second album ‘21’ had held the top position longer than any other album and is certified diamond. ‘21’ is the best-selling album of 2011-2012 and has sold over 31 million copies. The success of this has earned Adele abundant in the Guinness Book of World Records. She was the first woman to have two albums at the same time in the top five of the Billboard 200, two singles in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 and the first woman in the History of the billboard Hot 100 to have 3 simultaneous top 10 singles as a lead with “Rolling in the Deep“, “Someone Like You“, and “Set Fire to the Rain“. All of these has topped the chart. Throughout Adele career till now she has achieved numerous awards and titles. She is also an inspiration to many. She is one of the most famous celebrity who has fans in different parts of the world.
