Costa Rica News – Hospital Mexico is looking forward to having a tower of 21 operating rooms and an Intensive Care unit in 20 months.
The last four years have been a nightmare with half of the operating rooms out of order due to an electrical failure.
Five companies bid on the project. The work will have 18,477 square meters and will meet current regulations to ensure the performance of quality surgical interventions for each specialty.
The work was awarded this Monday to Estructuras S.A. in the amount of ¢25,000 million, according to the Costa Rican Social Security Fund. The next step is to get the endorsement from the Comptroller General of the Republic.
Surgeons have had to suspend operations indefinitely due to the delay in getting new operating rooms. Twice this year, employees have protested the delay in delivery of five new operating rooms that will sustain the realization of operations while the tower is built. The delay has caused a waiting list of 20,000 patients in the last three years.
