Costa Rica Soccer – The Northern Ireland coach, Michael O’Neill, held a press conference at the National Stadium on Saturday.
He’s been analyzing Costa Rica a lot in recent weeks. He also knows a bunch of the players who have been in the UK in recent years.
Costa Rica and Switzerland fight for a place in the round of 16, behind Brazil, according to O’Neill. This could have been Costa Rica and Northern Ireland if it weren’t for Switzerland’s win against Northern Ireland.
He sees Switzerland as a good team, with nine victories and one defeat but sees Costa Rica as having better chances of success. He’s seen Costa Rica play and really likes its style and game system.
Now that Northern Ireland lost its spot in the World Cup it is focused on classifying for EURO 2020. Still, the coach looks forward to playing Costa Rica, a World Cup team. Northern Ireland has young players and it will be an experience to play such a good international level team.
