Costa Rica News – This Thursday, President Carlos Alvarado and the Minister of Public Works and Transportation, MOPT, Rodolfo Méndez Mata, held a press conference in Santo Domingo de Heredia.
Their announcement was regarding seeking a leader to head the negotiations and process of the Route 27 extension. This new technical secretary of the National Council of Concessions will be named in the coming days.
Appointing someone to the position is a top priority. A few names are being considered and some have been out of the country and not yet able to meet about the position.
The person must be professional and able to negotiate a difficult arrangement. He or she must have knowledge in public-private partnerships.
Route 27 was inaugurated in 2010 and is one of the busiest roads in the country. It requires an extension and concession. There is a proposal to expand it to three lanes in each direction from La Sabana to Ciudad Colón and two in each direction from Ciudad Colón to Orotina.
