Costa Rica Sports – The Costa Rican Christian Massey completed the first round of the Dakar Rally.
He couldn’t hide his excitement as he finished in ninth place on the first day. He shared the moment with his wife and stepchildren.
He ended with a time of 49 minutes and 30 seconds in the 4×4 quad category. He got this great time even with a stop to help a teammate who was having a mechanical problem. He is a member of the Mazzucco Team.
The whole team completed the 272-kilometer start between Lima and Pisco. The first part joined the capital with Pisco along the Pan-American Highway followed by a 30 km ride in the desert.
He commented that the landscapes in the dunes were spectacular. The hardest part was visibility in the dunes because of the reflection of the sun but he had studied the road map and was well prepared.
