Costa Rica News – A gang stole from luxury homes and sold the works of art abroad.
They took works of very high value.
Luckily, the Judicial Police disarmed the group with four operations on Tuesday. The group is attributed to at least 17 robberies over the last 16 months.
They looked for houses in expensive neighborhoods like Belen, Lindora and Escazu. Stolen were fine oriental vases, statues, coins and collectible bills and dozens of paintings with certificates of authenticity by artists like Rafa Fernandez.
The men have contacts in the black market both nationally and internationally to sell the works of art which range from $50,000 to $80,000 in value. Until sold, they were kept stored in Hatillo 4.
In the operation, many items were seized. These include name brand watches, handbags, suitcases, guns and cash in various currencies.
Cell phones were also confiscated which will advance the investigation.
