Costa Rica Entertainment – The horn player, Hugo Valverde Villalobos is a 22-year old Costa Rican who has been preparing for a great musical career since the age of 7.
He has been chosen by a jury of 15 people to be the second horn of the Metropolitan Opera of New York.
The artist participated in the audition at the Lincoln Center.
The selection came this week and if all works out with his work visa he will start with the prestigious group in September.
When moving to the U.S. he dreamed of reaching one of the most recognized orchestras. This one is perhaps the most recognized worldwide.
He beat out 54 other performers for the spot.
He survived the two intense days of auditioning, playing difficult pieces behind a curtain away from the judges.
He got scores of 12/15 and 13/15.
Valverde thanks his family and other supporters as well as his teachers both in Costa Rica and in the United States.
