Costa Rica News – Representatives from the Central American countries of Nicaragua and Costa Rica arrived in Manila past 5 a.m. Thursday.
The Latina beauties’ flight arrived late by an hour.
Costa Rica’s Carolina Rodriguez Duran said she was excited to be in the Philippines and is looking forward to try adobo.
“It is my first time here. When the airplane landed, I was jumping like a little girl in the airplane. It was so much fun,” the Costa Rican bet said.
Rodriguez is an English teacher and a professional swimmer. An environmental advocate, she leads efforts in planting trees and collecting non-organic residues from rivers in her country.
Meanwhile, Nicaragua’s Marina Jacoby said she is excited to finally be in the Philippines after a year of preparation for the pageant.
“I am so excited to be finally here. (After) one year of preparation and I am here in the Philippines. I have never been in Asia before. So, I am excited and I want everything to start right now,” she said.
Jacoby is an actress and a model in her native country, where she leads a campaign against bullying.
More than forty other candidates are expected to fly in Thursday.
The coronation day of the 65th Miss Universe pageant will be held on January 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Philippine bet Maxine Medina is hoping to follow in the success of her predecessor Pia Wurtzbach, who was named Miss Universe 2015.
