Costa Rica News – Masaya’s marketplace looks the same, day in and day out, except for this Saturday morning when the gentle and colorful routine was shaken by the presence of 11 Costa Rican deputies.
With them, local deputies and a ton of media personnel, the National Police and the National Security Force ensuring their safety.
Though the deputies wore normal clothes, their presence could be spotted a mile away.
The merchants were not expecting them.
The reports called it “parliamentary tourism.” The deputies were in town to hold discussions during this cold period between the countries.
The respective Presidents did not meet.
The deputies from both countries signed a 17-point statement that calls on both governments to respect each others’ sovereignties and to use international law to resolve differences.
